Tips for Keeping Pets Happy and Healthy in Small Spaces

Tenant Playing with Her Cat and Dog in a Small Yelm If you are a pet parent living in a small Yelm rental home, you understand the importance of space. It can be difficult to find enough space for your pet to run and play, let alone store their supplies. However, with a little imagination and a few pointers, you can keep your pet happy and healthy even in the tiniest of spaces! This article will discuss ways to make the most of a small living situation with pets.

Give your pet plenty of outside time.

If you have a yard, that’s terrific! Ensure that your pet spends quality time outdoors. If not, try taking your pet to a nearby park or around the block. Dog parks are also wonderful places to give your dog space to run and socialize. Getting some exercise and fresh air will improve their health and happiness – as well as yours!

Make time for playtime.

It’s critical to keep your pet’s mind active because a bored pet is more likely to get into trouble. Your pet desires nothing more than to have fun playing with you! This is especially important if your pet is intelligent and doesn’t have much room to run around inside. Smart pets are more likely to become bored. But, no matter what type of pet you have, playing engaging, active games can keep your pet healthy and moving.

Invest in a good scratching post and indoor toys.

If your pet will be spending the majority of their time indoors, make sure they have plenty of ways to keep themselves entertained. A fine scratching post will help maintain the health of your cat’s claws and provide them with an alternative to your furniture for their scratching needs. Cats may also enjoy climbing and exploring, particularly near a window. Indoor dog toys, such as puzzle feeders and Kongs, can help keep their doggy minds busy and stave off boredom.

Train your pet early on.

A well-trained pet is more likely to be well-behaved and to cause less damage to your rental property. If you have a new puppy or kitten, begin training them on things like potty training, chewing, and scratching as soon as possible. It’s also important to provide your pet with their own comfortable sleeping area and train them to go there on command. This will keep them out of your way when you come in, leave, or have visitors.

Give your pet plenty of love and attention.

It should go without saying that this is the most important thing you can do for your pet! Give your furry friend plenty of love and attention, regardless of how big or small your living space is. They’ll return your kindness by being loyal and loving companions. They will be healthier and happier too!
